Gtalk Messenger to Shut down on February 16th and will be replaced by Hangouts

Google Talk, Google Hangouts, Google, Gtalk, Google Chat Messenger, Hangouts
Popular chat messenger of Google Gtalk will be no more operational after February 16th because now google plans to take down it once and for ever on 16th of February, if reports are anything to go by.

While the messenger has become very popular amongst millions of users its not that Google is putting end to its Messenger services but is upgrading it to Google Hangouts Messenger services for Windows users.

Millions of users, who have been using Gtalk messenger since a long time, will now have to switch over to the Hangout service irrespective of whether they like it or not.

Hangout popularly known as the “Google Hangouts” is an instant messaging and video chat platform developed by Google. It is the future of the company and hence taking down Gtalk is the most logical thing Google could do now.

it will be replaced by the new Hangouts app. So, one has to switch from Gtalk to its Hangout even if one likes or not. Although Google introduced Hangout sometime back, not many have transferred to it as millions of users have been using the Gtalk for long-time and become comfortable using it.

In a move to compel such users, Google is now going to bring down the services of Gtalk. After closing down social networking site Orkut on Sep 30, 2014, Google now seems to close the operations of Gtalk too.

World’s first Ubuntu phone set to go on sale

World’s first Ubuntu phone set to go on saleThe BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition will be the world's first Ubuntu Phone when it goes on sale in Europe on Monday 9 February, after years of false starts and broken promises.

It comes with a 4.5-inch QHD display, a quad-core MediaTek Cortex A7 processor clocked at 1.3GHz and 1GB of RAM. It also features a 5-megapixel front camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera.

Ubuntu Phone looks set to shake up the way we interact with our smartphones and the apps we've installed on them. Rather than laying out all the apps separately in grids as with Android and iOS, Ubuntu Phone is bringing in the revolutionary idea of "Scopes," which as Cristian Parrino, VP of Mobile at Canonical claims, is "a gamechanger"

Ubuntu Phone is looking to integrate content and services via "Scopes," which will integrate various apps and services into an easy to use interface, so users don't have to scroll through screens of icons.

For example the NearBy scope will aggregate local services centred around where you are and what you're doing, giving you reviews of local restaurants nearby, as well as the weather in your area. It should mean you no longer have to open up separate apps or web pages to view all of this information.
    Act fast

It will go on sale exclusively across Europe for 169.90 (around £127, $194, AU$249) on Monday 9 February in a flash sale. The website for the sale and the exact time the virtual doors will open will be revealed on @Ubuntu and @bqreaders on Twitter.

If you want to get your hands on one, you'll need to be quick as there will only be a limited amount of BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition devices available on Monday. Rodrigo del Prado, deputy director general of BQ, told us that further flash sales, and then more widespread availability across Europe will follow in the next two to three weeks.

A number of networks in Europe such as amena.com, giffgaff, and Portugal Telecom will offer sim bundles with the BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition.

We spoke to Cristian Parrino, VP of Mobile at Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu Phone, who told use that "Launching a new product is a journey, this is the first step," and that for the time being Canonical is focusing on early adopters who are bored of iOS and Android, rather than fighting for shelf space among more well known brands.

Time will tell if this direction will pay off and Ubuntu Phone can get the attention of disgruntled iOS and Android users.

How to Make Calls, Send and Receive SMS From Your Computer Using an Android Phone

airdroid_3_contacts_screen.jpg
The launch of iOS 8 in September brought a number of very cool features, with Continuity perhaps topping the list of enhancements. It allows you to make and receive phone calls and send and receive text messages using your iPad or Mac, as long as they're connected to the same Wi-Fi network and Apple ID. This is quite handy if you're working on your Mac and don't want to switch back to the iPhone just to check a text or to receive a call.
(Also see: How to Make and Answer Calls, Send and Receive SMS From Your iPad, Mac)
If you're using a Mac and an iPhone that's a great feature to have, but Android users need not feel left out either. AirDroid gives Android users most of Continuity's features and allows some things that'll make Apple users jealous.
Continuity also has a feature called Handoff, which allows you to pick up where you left off with apps. Whether it's finishing an incomplete message on Mail or a document in Pages, these automatically sync across Apple devices with Handoff. Third-party apps such as Google Chrome also support this feature, but this is only available if developers choose to add it.
(Also see: How to Enable and Use Continuity, Handoff Features on iPhone, iPad, and Mac)
AirDroid doesn't have anything like Handoff and doesn't let you receive phone calls. It can mirror your Android device's screen to your computer if your phone is rooted. This feature is useful if you want to use your phone's apps on your PC. If your phone is not rooted, you only get notifications for text messages, phone calls, and from other system apps.
Airdroid 3 lets you send and receive text messages, make and reject calls, receive notifications and transfer files via your computer. You control the phone using a Web client, so you don't have to install any software, and can use the app simply by visiting a webpage on either your PC or Mac.
  1. Download AirDroid on your Android phone.
  2. Open the app on your Android phone.
  3. The app will ask you to create an account, but it is not needed. Just tap the tiny Sign in later button at the bottom.
  4. Now AirDroid will ask you for permission to show notifications on your computer in real time. Tap Enable.
  5. This will take you to the system settings for access to notifications. Tap AirDroid Notification Mirror service.
  6. A confirmation pop-up will appear. Tap OK.
  7. Now hit the back button on your phone to return to AirDroid. The app will now display a URL - http://web.airdroid.com - on the phone.
  8. Open the URL in any Web browser on your computer. You'll see a QR code in the browser window.
  9. On AirDroid on your Android phone, tap the QR code image next to the URL. This will open the camera.
  10. Point the camera at the QR code in the browser window on your computer. The Android app will vibrate when it has scanned the code.
That's it, now you can get all Android notifications in that browser window. It's quite similar to the way you connect WhatsApp Web to your phone. In the browser window you will see apps such as Screenshot, Camera, Music, Photos, Videos - all of these are self explanatory. You can access the phone's camera via the computer, take screenshots, view and transfer photos and videos and listen and transfer songs as well. AirDroid makes it very easy to manage your Android phone from your PC as you can also see recent calls by clicking on Call Logs and backup apk files by clicking on Apps.
airdroid_sms_reply_screen.jpgThere are some other simple things you can do using AirDroid such as sending text messages directly from your PC.
  1. In the browser window, click on the Messages app.
  2. All the text messages on your phone will show up here.
  3. Click New Message on the top-right to compose a new text. Click Send to send it across.
  4. When you receive any text messages, you'll get a notification in the browser. Click the notification to view the text. Alternatively, you can click the Messages app to view all incoming messages.
You can also initiate a call using AirDroid on your PC, but the call isn't shared with your computer. The PC is only useful as a phone dialer.
  1. Click the phone icon at the top of the page, next to the search bar on web.airdroid.com.
  2. Dial the number in the keypad. As you start typing the number, a list of contacts with similar numbers will show up on the right. So you can also click the contact you want to call.
  3. Click the blue Call button. Now you will have to switch to your Android phone to speak to the person. This is an unfortunate limitation and we suggest that you use a Bluetooth headset paired with your phone as a workaround.
  4. AirDroid doesn't let you receive calls via the computer either, but you can reject calls with a text message. When someone calls, you will see a pop-up in the browser window. Click Reject to disconnect the call or Reject with message to send a text message to the caller.
AirDroid is not perfect for Continuity like features, but it comes pretty close. If you use any other Android apps that let you make phone calls or send text messages via your computer, let us know via the comments.

CES 2015 Press Day Roundup: Curved Phones, Smarter Homes, Fuel Cells

samsung_tablet_alarm_sensors_ap.jpg

Go ahead, peek at our patents. Toyota will allow others to use several thousand of its patented or patent-pending technologies for free to speed the development of its hydrogen-powered car dubbed the Mirai, due to be sold in the U.S. by October.Elsewhere, would-be novelists got a new way to write as Lenovo launched AnyPen, which lets you write on a tablet with any ordinary pen or pencil. And LG unveiled a new curved smartphone. The International CES show in Las Vegas this week isn't typically a major forum for mobile products, as many manufacturers wait a month or two for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. But it's hard to separate mobile from other technologies these days.
Here are some highlights from the gadget show on Monday.
Vroom, vroom
Toyota has been working on a hydrogen-powered car for some time. But now it's opened up its technologies to anyone, even its competitors, in the hopes of speeding the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles and their fueling stations.
Toyota executive Bob Carter compared Mirai's development to the gamble the company took on the electric Prius, which now has become a ubiquitous sight on most roads.
"We can speed the metabolism of everyone's research and development," he said.
volkswage_golf_r_touch_ap.jpgDon't expect a rush of carmakers to line up, though. Quite a few have their own hydrogen fuel-cell cars in the works. But there's the quandary of the car and the fuel station. Which comes first?
"We cannot have the car without the refueling stations," he said.
Toyota's patents include 70 designs for hydrogen-refueling stations, the plans for which are also now royalty-free.
Carter says California is on its way to building 100 stations with some $200 million the state set aside. The carmaker offered one of the main station developers a $7.2 million loan for maintenance and operations and has partnered with another company to develop stations in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
Write me
Sometimes, it's easier to write or draw something than to type. Some tablets including Microsoft's Surface and Samsung's Note series come with styluses to do just that, but that means having an extra item to carry around and potentially lose.
lenovo_yoga_tablet_2_sc.jpgNow you can write on a tablet screen with just an ordinary pen or pencil. Lenovo is introducing a technology called AnyPen in its new 8-inch (20-centimeter) Yoga Tablet 2. Lenovo says the pen or pencil will even make touchscreen navigation easier than using a finger.
The tablet is built to withstand normal pressure, but don't press too hard, or you might scratch the surface.
All in the screens
LG G Flex2 has a slightly curved screen, as the name implies. LG says that makes phones easier to hold and the display easier to read. Even more notable is the fact that LG is also making the Flex2 smaller than its predecessor, countering a trend toward bigger and bigger phones.
(Also see:LG G Flex2 With 5.5-Inch Curved Display, Snapdragon 810 SoC Launched)
LG says it got complaints that the previous, 6-inch (15-centimeter) version felt too big. The new one will be just 5.5 inches (14 centimeters), which LG considers the "sweet spot" for smartphones. That's the same screen size as Apple's new iPhone 6 Plus (Review | Pictures), though it's actually slightly shorter when placed side by side.
LG is also making the back of its new phone "scratch-proof" by adding self-healing properties. Scratch or nick it under normal use, and the mark disappears in seconds. The screen itself isn't scratchproof, but LG says it's more durable than usual with a special chemical layer applied to Corning's Gorilla Glass.
lg_g_flex2_display_ap.jpgThe Flex2 has improved screen resolution over the original Flex, at 1080p high definition, though that's still behind LG G3 (Review | Pictures) in sharpness. The Flex2 also introduces some selfie features and a way to quickly check the time and notifications without turning the entire screen on.
Curved-screen phones remain a niche product, and LG doesn't expect to ship as many Flex2 phones as its flat G3 smartphone. A price hasn't been determined, but it's expected to be more than the G3 and other high-end phones, which typically cost $600 to $700 without a two-year contract.
Meanwhile, Sharp plans to release a 5-inch (12.5-centimeter) frameless phone - the screen goes right to the edge. It actually uses an optical-lens trick to make the front panel appear to extend to the edge. Magic or not, the trick keeps the overall phone smaller.
Virtual reality, real eating
Samsung has traditionally been known for its hardware - from TVs and appliances to phones and smartwatches. It's now making a bigger push into content.
The company paraded three leading chefs on stage - Michel Troisgros of Maison Troisgros in Roanne, France, Christopher Kostow of The Restaurant at Meadowood in California's Napa Valley and Daniel Boulud of New York City's Daniel - to launch an app with recipes and other content. The three chefs will share some of their favorites. Samsung will also make a Chef Collection edition of its tablet.
samsung_milk_vr_samsungtomorrow.jpgMeanwhile, Samsung is trying to make its new Gear VR virtual-reality headset more appealing by developing more content. The new Milk VR service will include updates of 360-degree free content five days a week. David Alpert, a producer for the hit AMC show "The Walking Dead," will create a mystery-suspense episodic thriller exclusively for the service. Virtual reality "allows us as storytellers to really push the boundaries and explore new ways of engaging the audience," says Alpert. Content will also come from the National Basketball Association and brands such as Mountain Dew.
The Gear VR device sells for $199 and requires a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Review | Pictures) phone, excluding the Edge version.
Let's all get along
Many of the smart-home products out so far haven't been that smart in the sense they communicate only with their own app and products from the same manufacturer. That's starting to change.
AT&T, for instance, said its Digital Life home-security and automation system will soon work with products from Samsung, Qualcomm, LG and Lutron. AT&T's app, for instance, will be able to control Lutron window shades and Samsung's security cameras, while consumers will be able to see on the LG TV that someone is at the door.
AT&T officials say that such collaborations are needed to drive greater adoption.
Other companies are using CES to showcase compatibility with Google's Nest smart thermostat and Apple's HomeKit - two of the emerging hubs for controlling the smart home. That will allow a new Whirlpool dryer to run slower and save energy, for instance, when Nest senses that no one's home.

China to Have Most Robots in World by 2017: Report

japan_humanoid_robot_ap_02.jpg
China will have more robots operating in its production plants by 2017 than any other country as it cranks up automation of its car and electronics factories, the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) said on Thursday.Already the biggest market in the $9.5 billion global robot trade - or $29 billion including associated software, peripherals and systems engineering - China lags far behind its more industrialised peers in terms of robot density.
China has just 30 robots per 10,000 workers employed in manufacturing industries, compared with 437 in South Korea, 323 in Japan, 282 in Germany and 152 in the United States.
But a race by carmakers to build plants in China along with wage inflation that has eroded the competitiveness of Chinese labour will push the operational stock of industrial robots to more than double to 428,000 by 2017, the IFR estimates.
"Companies are forced to invest ever more in robots to be more productive and raise quality," said Gudrun Litzenberger, general secretary of the Frankfurt-based IFR.
"In the current phase it's the auto industry, but in the next two or three years it will be driven by the electronics industry," she said.
Japanese robot makers still have the lion's share of the market, with about 60 percent, but Chinese suppliers are growing fast, with about a quarter of the market. Most of the rest are supplied by European and U.S. manufacturers.
Four foreign robot makers - Switzerland's ABB , Germany's Kuka , and Japan's Yaskawa and Fanuc - already have production sites in China and more are expected to follow.
"The automation of China's production plants has just started," said Per Vegard Nerseth, Managing Director of ABB Robotics. "We have witnessed swift, almost explosive growth over the last two or three years, surpassing even our expectations."
The automotive industry is by far the largest customer for robots in China, accounting for about 40 percent of robots in operation, as China is both the world's biggest car market and its biggest production site.
European carmakers such as Volkswagen and Daimler which have invested heavily in China are bringing their robotics suppliers with them, Litzenberger said.
The electronics industry is expected to follow.
Taiwanese contract manufacturing giant Foxconn, which makes Apple iPhones and iPads among other products, is already making its own Foxbot robots as well as using robots bought from other suppliers.

Now, a Robot to Do Your Laundry

robots_to_do_laundary_via_physorg.jpg
If you find doing the laundry boring, a robot can soon come to your rescue. An Indian-origin scientist has developed an automated tool that is capable of doing laundry without any specific knowledge of what it has to wash. The researchers enabled the robot to do the laundry without knowing how many and what type of clothes needed to be washed.
"The widely imagined helper robots of the future are expected to 'clear the table,' 'do laundry' or perform day-to-day tasks with ease," said Siddharth Srivastava, a scientist at the United Technologies Research Center, Berkeley.
The researchers' key insight was to use human behaviour - the almost unconscious action of pulling, stuffing, folding and piling - as a template, adapting both the repetitive and thoughtful aspects of human problem-solving to handle uncertainty in their computed solutions.
Out of the 13 or so tasks involved in the laundry problem, the team's system was able to complete more than half of them autonomously and nearly completed the rest - by far the most effective demonstration of laundering for artificial intelligence (AI) to date, the researches noted.
The framework that Srivastava and his team developed combines several popular planning paradigms that have been developed in the past using complex control structures such as loops and branches and optimises them to run efficiently on modern hardware.
It also incorporates an effective approach for computing plans by learning from examples, rather than through rigid instructions or programmes.
Srivastava presented the robot at the recently concluded Association for Advancement of Artificial Intelligence conference in Austin, Texas.

If a Car Is Going to Self-Drive, It Might as Well Self-Park, Too

autos_self_parking_nyt.jpg
Technology may soon render another skill superfluous: parking a car. Sensors and software promise to free owners from parking angst, turning vehicles into robotic chauffeurs, dropping off drivers and then parking themselves, no human intervention required.BMW demonstrated such technical prowess this month with a specially equipped BMW i3 at the International CES event. At a multilevel garage of the SLS Las Vegas hotel, a BMW engineer spoke into a Samsung Gear S smartwatch.
"BMW, go park yourself," and off the electric vehicle scurried to an empty parking spot, turning and backing itself perfectly into the open space. To retrieve the car, a tap on the watch and another command, "BMW, pick me up," returned the car to the engineer.
The i3 was equipped with laser scanners, including two mounted in the front right and left quarter panels. No GPS was used. Instead, the car relied on a map of the parking garage and an onboard cellular data connection.
No smartphone was needed. The Samsung watch includes its own cellular connection, so commands are sent to a BMW server, which then relays the instructions to the car, said Yves Pilat, one of BMW's engineers developing the feature. BMW calls it fully automated remote valet parking.
Several other companies have demonstrated similar self-parking cars, including Toyota, Valeo and Volkswagen. In many ways, the development is an extension of existing parallel parking assist technologies. In such systems, the driver remains behind the wheel, but with a push of a button, the vehicle measures the parking space and then swings backs into it without any input from the human operator.
"Now, the concept is you can do any kind of parking spot," Pilat said, and without a driver.
Aside from preventing Ferris Bueller-like joy rides by garage attendants, the advantage of introducing autonomous car features to handle parking has several benefits, foremost being to win over skeptical consumers.
Parallel parking was "the first step in getting drivers to understand that there are some tasks the car might be able to do better than you," said John Hanson, Toyota Motor Sales USA's national manager for advanced technology and business communication.
Letting the company's electronic park assist do the tricky maneuvering can eliminate dings, wrinkled fenders and embarrassing scrapes. But cars that park themselves without a driver in the front seat are still research projects, which may face more regulatory than technological hurdles.
Valeo says consumers will see its self-parking technology introduced in a production vehicle within the next 12 months. To overcome possible regulatory objections, Valeo includes one additional piece of technology: a 360-degree, bird's-eye view video camera.
The live video view is displayed on the owner's smartphone, and the user must keep a finger on the screen until the car is finished parking. If the finger is lifted, the car will stop automatically.
"So the driver remains in control of the operation to conform to current regulations," said Guillaume Devauchelle, Valeo's vice president for innovation and scientific development.
The camera is also used to recognize blue lines demarcating handicapped zones and other restricted parking spots.
That sense of control may seem like a mere technicality when standing 100 feet away from the car. But not being behind the wheel does have one distinct advantage: There is no trepidation about being trapped inside a robotic car that might crash.
Then there is the matter of simply finding an available spot.
Several companies, like Parkopedia and ParkMe, have been working for the past couple of years to collect that information in real time. There are smartphone apps to help drivers find a spot, and last year Volvo began offering a feature that enables drivers to find the closest available space and pay for it.
Parkopedia has parking information including real-time availability and prices for 6,000 cities in 52 countries, said the company's chief executive, Eugene Tsyrklevich. He said that drivers could even set preferences, like selecting the nearest available spot or least expensive space.
Gathering the information has presented some challenges. Garage owners were initially reluctant to share their pricing information online, but more operators are realizing that if they are not included in apps or on dashboards, they may lose business.
"Right now we have close to 15 percent of all parking lots across the nation with refreshed information," said Mark Pendergrast, director of product management at the traffic firm Inrix. "Two years ago that number was zero."
Inrix uses information from Parkopedia and ParkMe and says that in metropolitan areas the percentage of garages covered is closer to 30 to 40 percent. But there is still the issue of including available street parking. Several municipalities, like San Francisco and Washington, have worked on trying to solve the problem using sensors and networked payment systems to deliver real-time information on availability.
Simply tracking payment information is not enough to guarantee accuracy, however, because some drivers will park illegally or exceed their allotted time. So cameras with software intended to recognize open spaces may have to be used.
Even the cars themselves, peppered with sensors and connected to the Internet, could report on available spots near them, Pendergrast said, much in the way that cars can automatically report their location and speed to provide information about traffic conditions.
Indeed, BMW is working with another company, Parkmobile, and is considering integrating parking location and payment features with its robotic valet in the future. It would mean that drivers would never have to worry about finding a spot or learning how to parallel park.
Such parking nirvana may still be years away, however, said Devauchelle of Valeo. The reason: The real challenge for autonomous car technology isn't pulling into an empty spot in a garage; it's pulling out of a space on the street into traffic.
"And the difficulty is to do it 100 percent of the time," he said. "It would be a disaster to put something on the market that works 95 percent of the time."

Nasa's New Horizons Spacecraft Sends First Historic Images of Pluto

nasa_pluto_pic_official.jpg
Nasa's New Horizons spacecraft has sent its first stunning images of Pluto as the probe closes in on the dwarf planet.New Horizons was more than 203 million kilometres away from Pluto when it began taking images, the US space agency said in a statement.
Although still just a dot along with its largest moon, Charon, the images come on the 109th birthday of Clyde Tombaugh who discovered the distant icy world in 1930.
"My dad would be thrilled with New Horizons," said Clyde Tombaugh's daughter Annette Tombaugh, of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
"To actually see the planet that he had discovered, and find out more about it - to get to see the moons of Pluto - he would have been astounded. I am sure it would have meant so much to him if he were still alive today," she added.
The new images, taken with New Horizons' telescopic Long-Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI), are the first acquired during the spacecraft's 2015 approach to the Pluto system which culminates with a close flyby of Pluto and its moons July 14.
Over the next few months, LORRI will take hundreds of pictures of Pluto, against a starry backdrop, to refine the team's estimates of New Horizons' distance to Pluto.
As in these first images, the Pluto system will resemble little more than bright dots in the camera's view until late spring.
"Pluto is finally becoming more than just a pinpoint of light," said Hal Weaver, New Horizons project scientist at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland.
"The dwarf planet will continue to grow larger and larger in the images as New Horizons spacecraft hurtles toward its targets. The new LORRI images also demonstrate that the camera's performance is unchanged since it was launched more than nine years ago," Weaver said

Voice Calling Buttons Show Up in WhatsApp iPhone App

whatsapp_voice_calling_iphone_blur_ndtv.jpg
Soon after Android users began reporting the rollout of the WhatsApp free voice calling feature, iOS users with the latest version of the app are now reporting the presence of call buttons.

Independently verified by NDTV Gadgets, the two new call buttons visible in the WhatsApp iOS app (v2.11.15 - currently available on the App Store) for now only bring up the standard iPhone dialler, rather than placing a VoIP call through WhatsApp. This should change when WhatsApp finally rolls out the functionality.

One button, near the contact name within a chat conversation, features the phone symbol, while the other is present on the left side below the top pane, and reads 'Call'. The new buttons are definitely a new addition to the interface, and seem to be independent of the regular call feature via the dialler, which is still accessible when the user opens a contact's info page and navigates to the phone number.

Notably, the rollout of the new interface with the call buttons for the WhatsApp iOS app is much wider than last week's Android rollout of the fully-functional voice calling feature to some users. Anyone can download the latest version of the iOS app with the functionality from the App Store, but of course, the feature is not yet operational on iOS.

On the other hand, the WhatsApp for Android app currently available on Google Play or the company's site does not feature the new call buttons, or offer the voice calling functionality to all users. Users who do report seeing the new functionality, say a Calls tab and a New Call symbol are visible, as also seen in the screenshots and video shared by users.

The much-anticipated free voice calling feature for WhatsApp is not rumoured, and was confirmed to be in development by CEO Jan Koum last year. Koum said the feature would rollout in Q1 2015, giving the company nearly two more months to make good on its promise. Some of the difficulties Koum said the team was facing in implementing the feature included issues like how the app doesn't have access to certain microphones on the smartphone to properly enable noise cancellation, and how exactly to implement the feature in poor data coverage areas.

Gary Neville’s Underground House:

The first shocker from the list comes from Neville’s kitty. Beautiful, functional, fascinating and appealing. We wouldn’t lie if we tell you that these words describe it best. Designed by Make Architects, it is sprawled across 8,000 sq ft. This subterranean sensation is beautifully laid in the shape of a flower and built in a way that keeps energy consumption to the minimum. If there is anything Gary is good at apart from football, it’s his conscious to go eco friendly!

Situated in steep sand hill inland in North Norfloak Coast, this house exudes futuristic design. The central point around which the whole house is designed is ’Sun’. The living rooms at the first floor are covered with wooden hood which keeps the heat off the glass windows in summers. Interestingly, the make is such that the house is not devoid of any sunlight in winters. The base of the house is built with flints. The four bedrooms are buried in the tunnel and the natural cover of the ground provides insulation to it.

4.Hidden Swiss estate by Vetsch Architektur:

7.Abandoned Missile Base:
The next entry dares to bring the dicey adventures alive. Bruce Townsley bought this missile base property from Ed Peden, who is a missile base real estate mogul. The sheer intricacy and complexity involved in the project pushed his urge to undertake it. The whole house is connected by the staircases which twirl between the first and the second levels.

8.Greek Isles Underground House:

Designed by Deca Architecture, this underground home has been especially envisioned to stand the windy weather of Aegean Sea. 9.Modern Underground house by KWK Promes:

This underground house from KWK Promes has been made using modernistic elements in mind. The green roof of the house is accessible only to the residents via a set of stairs running from inside. Blending perfectly with its green surroundings, the house provides a perfect interaction between outdoors and indoors for its residents.

10.Underground Stone Desert Home:

This house barely rises above the dessert level that surrounds it. Half hidden in the earth, it efficiently responds to the needs of controlled lighting, heating and cooling-cross winds. It also has two slopes on the adjacent hillsides. Owing to an emerging appearance, the house looks no less than a fantastical and intriguing pre-historic ruin that is on the verge of being discovered.

11.Missile Silo underground house:

The designers and makers of Atlas F Missile Base, as it was previously known, had no clue of the irony it was destined to project in the coming years. Originally a missile base, supposed to support the destruction a war comes with, it has now been converted in to a comfortable abode for peaceful living. However, it has its own private airport. The entire property consists of grounds, forest and trails. Above the ground, the property features a hangar and spacious open living room and fireplace with wraparound porch. Below the ground, which is accessible by stairs (and which was a launch control center once), are two levels spread across 2300 sq.ft and which boast of three bedrooms, two and a half bath with open living area. 10 Most Peaceful Countries in the World

Do you know which are the most peaceful countries in the world? Since 2007 each year, the Global Peace Index has been issued by the IEP (Institute for Economics and Peace) and is a measurement of nations’ and regions’ peacefulness based on external and internal measures. Although it seems like the world is becoming more cruel, according to the Global Peace Index there are 20 most peaceful countries in the world.

1. Denmark

Denmark
Denmark tops the list of the most peaceful countries on Earth since it’s really a safe place to live. Even while Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, was under occupation by the Nazis during the World War II, it still did not fight. The point is that people living in Denmark prefer to focus on economic matters, instead of involving themselves in various armed conflicts. Danish people are very friendly, open and helpful. Personally I have been to Copenhagen twice and I wish I lived in this country. I’m pretty sure that those who have been to Denmark at least once could say the same.

2. Norway

Norway
Many people do not expect Norway to appear in the list of the most peaceful countries in the world. Perhaps, this is because of Anders Behring Breivik, mass murderer, who hit the pride of the country hard. Sure, it was an extraordinary incident, but according to the Global Peace Index Norway is one of the world’s most peaceful countries and friendly and safe place to live. Norway is the country with the highest level of human development in the globe, plus, the government of Oslo always places peace at the forefront of the priorities of the country.

3. Singapore

Singapore
As an active member of the international community and, overall, a small nation, Singapore can never take its right to exist and security for granted. Since achieving its independence in 1965 as a sovereign Republic, Singapore has always concentrated on being a great neighbor, through establishing social, peaceful, economic, cordial political relations with all countries.
The country has worked with the United Nations and its supporting agencies on a great variety of efforts.
It also participates in various global, unilateral and multilateral organizations to promote international cooperation, including WTO (World Trade Organization). Singapore is among the most peaceful countries in the world as well as one of the world’s wealthiest countries. The homicide and violent crime rates are lower than the criminal rates.

4. Slovenia

Slovenia
A beautiful European country, Slovenia is also among the most peaceful countries in the world. The country got its lowest marks in funding for the United Nations peacekeeping missions, number of police and security officers, level of perceived criminality in society, number of organized internal conflicts, violent protests, and number of internal and external wars fought. I agree with the Global Peace Index and believe that Slovenia deserves its place in the list of the most peaceful countries on Earth. Moreover, with its wonderful cities like Maribor and Ljubljana teeming with unique culture, Slovenia is a fantastic travel destination.

5. Sweden

Sweden
One of the most beautiful Scandinavian countries, Sweden is located in the far north of Europe. Although Sweden is one of the biggest weapon exporters in Europe, the country has a low level of robberies (only 9,000 a year) compared to the United States (about 350,000 a year)! According to the Global Peace Index, Sweden is one of the most peaceful countries in the world, in spite of the fact that it’s among the world’s top arms exporters. Besides, Sweden has not been to war and has not participated in any combats for the whole 2 centuries.

6. Iceland

Iceland
Iceland was also ranked as one of the most peaceful countries in the world, staying out of the main conflicts in the world. Iceland seldom or never hits the headlines and despite the collapse of the Icelandic banks several years ago, the country is remained as an amazing place of spectacular natural beauty. Tourists from all parts of the world come to Iceland to view its huge glaciers and raging volcanoes, as well as numerous unique natural and cultural attractions in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.

7. Belgium

Belgium
According to the Global Peace Index, Belgium is one of the best and most peaceful places to live in Europe and on Earth. Situated in the heart of Europe, this small country holds a special place. Brussels, the capital of Belgium, is home to the European Union and NATO. Belgium boasts medieval cities, beautiful town halls, majestic castles, and captivating natural beauty. Homicide and imprisonment rates are low in this country, even though Belgium did experience a crisis within its government over the 2008-2011 period.

8. Czech Republic

Czech Republic
A relatively new country, the Czech Republic gained its independence from the Soviet Bloc in 1989 due to the Velvet Revolution and its subsequent split with Slovakia. After the division of Czechoslovakia, the Czech Republic has largely concentrated on building a strong capitalist economy and creating a stable climate for investment. In 2009, the Human Development Index (HDI) ranked the Czech Republic as a country of ‘Very High Human Development.’ Renowned mostly for its magnificent capital city Prague and breathtaking natural beauty, the Czech Republic draws tourists from all over the world.

9. Switzerland

Switzerland
According to IEP, the Swiss maintain a well-functioning government and an open political culture. Illustrating the quality of government, Switzerland received the lowest score for political instability. It’s also among the world’s most peaceful countries that have low levels of violent crime. Although Switzerland is known for its neutrality in regional, international and global political issues, it maintains strong diplomatic relations with various countries around the world.

10. Japan

Japan
One of the most enchanting countries culturally, Japan has the third largest economy in the world. Since the World War II, Japan has been really peaceful, with little internal conflict and low crime. The country settles on an internal security force in order to maintain the peace. Japan is a peaceful as well as breathtakingly beautiful country worth visiting.
